New Occupation : Tourist; Scientist

SAWATDEE KRAP!!!

I have finally landed in Thailand ( well like 3 days ago, but yea the thrill of “seeing people that look freakishly like you but speak TOTALLY different language” is still there.. so for me.. I just landed (every single day). Well, anyway so far everything has been spectacular (except for the fact that I just threw away a hugh fidelity-hard to find- bloody expensive DNA polymerase). I got a cool condo ( by condo I mean a 4 beds , 1 and a half and a half bathroom, 4 cupboard room) that provides free drinking water, well maybe a little bit internet probs but what evs, a very efficient and highly supplied lab ( with a very VERY symmetrical architecture to the point that I think the architect has an OCD issue). So  yea everything has been AWESOME.

Let me tell you a thing about Thailand and its people they love to SHOP! There are scheduled night/morning/afternoon markets here in Patum Thani. Huge as shit and I am located in a so called “secluded” area. My other colleagues have gone to Jatujak Market, they said it is 10 times bigger than the one in Patum Thani I can only imagine what they are selling there.. I might find the legendary fetus soup, not that I would eat it or anything, but who knows!? Another thing is, almost in every food they stuffed pork in it. You can find  evry pork product possible here, so if you are Moslem ( like moi) well you just have to suck it up and pass thru the highly enticing, eye attracting, nasal engaging LOCAL DELICACIES (FML).

Another “legend” that you might ask as a tourist. “is everything cheap in Thailand?” well, after my 3 days experience here I THINK it is safe to say that IT  IS CONFIRMED TO BE TRUE!!! Umm let me give you an analogy, if you consider Thailand as a big department store ( like isetan, metro, sogo, etc) this department store has a 90% discount ( plus another 5 if you’re lucky) not weekly, not monthly , but WHOLE YEAR THRU!!! To some extent it’s a bit worrying. Why? Cuz the prices make you think what did they put into the stuff they sell so it can become soooo cheap ( well all of you economy geeks out there may as well participate and tell me the REASON)  So yea, you could imagine how I ( being the shopaholic that I am) have to deal with with this “optimum condition” ( see how I slide in some scientific jokes? Nice riiiight?)

Now done with the place ( in general) let me break down to you about the people. Hmm.. They are very welcoming and nice ( I guess it is in Asian gene or something) and yea.. some people are nicer than the others and some are.. well lets just say less approachable. But MAYBE it is because of the GIGANTIC language barrier that we are having with each other. But if they can speak ( even little) English, yea Its fine I supposed.

Anyway, it turned out that in BIOTEC Thailand ( the place that I am working at right now) are filled with exchange students!! Soo we’re not only learning about Thai culture but the students from other countries too. There some girls from Korea who turned out NOT TO BE IN K POP WAVE!!! ( thank god) so in my opinion they are pretty cool. And there are two students from the UK, they’ve been here like almost a year but because of the last year flood they were packed back to the UK and long story short, now they are stuck with us J. I am sensing great companionship with them.. but lets see..

Talking about COMPANIONSHIP, even the best companions will argue at some point. Not to mention the “less  bonded” ones. Can’t really say much about this. But lets just say this program will be spiced up ike habaneros in yo doritos! #EpicFail. Oh well.. let’s just hope for the best! KA PUN KRAP!! XX

holiday rush!!!

This year have been a roller coaster ride for me and maybe for2 other billion melodramatic person out there.. :P but I am really greatful for how it has become. Nothing much to complain about really. And coming from me THAT IS HUGE!

Anyway holiday season is coming to town.. which means excessively unnecessary so called “sale” is also taking its best shot at people all around the world especially people with LUST for “holiday” shopping ( just like moi!). I know the world holiday is practically raped now days but well, let’s be less of a cynic and more dived into the holiday cheers ( see how it is raped?)

I am blessed to have a quite different holiday this year, I have the opportunity to tag along with my aunt’s family to their Europe trip well maybe I should say OUR Europe trip. So on that note, I will be posting more about it on later entries and put on some pictures ( if not on FB already) on it also. Au re voir mes amis!

MASH(ED) UP

Life is full of choices.

For some those choices are life threatening but for others (like ME) its just pure dilemmatic. It  doesn’t take rocket science to know that you are OBLIGATED to choose your long LIVED future over short termed self indulging moments. BUT! Being the melodramatic AND melancholic person that I am, sometimes I think with my heart and I ask myself.. “What would I think to myself IF I chose A over B.. and vice versa” you know those kind of stuff . And now I REALLY want to choose self indulge OVER future. But my decision has been made like couple of months ago and I cant turned back the time. Well if I could wouldn’t I be rich already by now? I would be sipping wine eating the best caviar in Paris.. err okay that’s another story but yea ANYWAY.. im gonna live the next year of my life probably saying what if..

So the big question.. “WHAT WAS THE CHOICE I MADE THAT MADE ME SOO CRUSHED LIKE THIS??? Well the answer is that I think ( if things will go as planned, which this time is kind of a bad thing) I will miss the ONLY chance to be honored by Katy Perry’s presence on her California Dream’s Tour because I said YES to a internship program at Thailand..

I know its not LIFE threatening, BUT ITS FRIIGIN KATY  PERRY!! Aargh!! How can I live with  myself knowing that I missed her (probably) only one time concert here in INDONESIA!!??

Well here is my tribute for her.. a little MASH(ED) UP prose from her Teenage Dream Track listings.

“My heart is beating so fast like a Hummingbird Heartbeat.. because my Teenage Dream just died like a quickly burning Firework. Pearls, California Girls, and even ET couldn't save me from going Circle The Drain. Last Friday Night was soo much fun but now? I don't even know Who Am I Living For anymore... She sure is more beautiful than Peacock and i wish i could see her.. but this is Not Like The Movies. It doesn't end with happily ever after. Oh Katy Perry, you are The One That Got Away..”

Love,

The Unfinished Jobs

Before getting into the more word-filled bits I just want to say that I am deeply saddened by the eternal leave of Mr. Steven Paul Jobs. May his legacy continues and May he rest in peace, this particular post (regardless my poorly informed self) is dedicated to you.

Imagination only takes one so far but without the true effort and perseverance no dream will take place in the space we refer as reality. Mr. Jobs really out done everyone (including himself) in terms of being a successful visionary. Armed with brilliant ideas and solid work ethics he has proclaimed the Kingdom of Apple as one of the most appealing, highly respected, and not to mention financially secured brand in the long history of information technology.

Branding as I said, was one of his forte. Not only advanced technology but the aesthetic aspects of his product were always very well planned. For that, we have to thank his oh-so-famous calligraphy class. Basically, he knew what he wanted, he knew how it should turn out to be and he simply reached out to it. Again, a visionary.

As much as it has been prepared, his death still causes a lot of shock through out the world. Endless prayers, bouquets, and memoriam were (and still are) found piling in many Apple Store. That’s how much of an icon he IS.

So, how to keep his legacy alive…?

Making purchases from his masterpieces? Yes, Maybe. But the best way (I think) to keep him with us, is by living up to his passion. Passion in doing what we love, in being YOU, in Life. Lets make an impact! Lets finish the Unfinished Jobs!

In the memory of Mr. Steven Paul Jobs (February 24,1955 - October 5, 2011)

From now on, i will try to post a regular "something"  on my nuovo blog ( no it wasn't meant to be a dry joke about the saying "sesuatu banget" that has been SCARILY sporadic.. Tsk! people and their self actualization cravings... anyway, i'll get back on that later)

so.. yea.. see ya in a bit!
